Healthy Sloppy Joes

This healthier version of sloppy joes includes more veggies and real garlic. Be sure to serve on whole wheat buns.

Calories 252, Protein 14.3g, Carbohydrates 13g, Fat 15.8g

  • 1 lb lean ground beef (grass fed)
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup chopped green bell pepper
  • 2 carrots, finely chopped
  • 2 cloved garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp prepared yellow mustard
  • 3/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 tbs brown sugar
  • sprinkle salt and pepper
  1. Heat skillet over medium-high heat; cook and stir beef, onion, green bell pepper, carrots, and garlic until beef is browned, about 10 minutes. Drain off liquids.

  2. Stir in mustard, ketchup, and brown sugar and mix thoroughly. Reduce heat to low and simmer until sauce has thickened, about 30 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
